Solution

Pharmacy

A mistake costs differently in a pharmacy. A prescription-only medicine must not leave unchecked, and an out-of-date box must not reach the counter.

Prescription control

A medicine marked prescription-only cannot be sold without a prescription number — the till stops the sale and names the item responsible.

Search by active ingredient (INN)

Search the molecule without knowing the brand; every brand carrying it comes up.

Substitute suggestions

When the prescribed item is out, products with the same active ingredient are shown — what is on the shelf first, then cheapest to dearest.

Batch and expiry

Every batch carries its own number and date, so a recall notice can be answered.

GS1 DataMatrix scanning

The square code on the box gives product, batch number and expiry date in one scan.

Plain barcodes still work

Nothing changes for older stock — both methods work side by side.

Frequently asked questions

Can a cashier sell a prescription medicine without a prescription?

No. If the product is marked prescription-only, the till will not close the receipt without a number, and it shows which item is blocking it.

What if the prescribed medicine is out of stock?

Products with the same active ingredient are listed, what is on the shelf first. The decision still belongs to the pharmacist.

Does it read the square code on the box?

Yes, GS1 DataMatrix. One scan brings the product, the batch number and the expiry date together.
